How to File a DMCA Takedown Notice
To file a valid DMCA takedown notice, your email must include ALL of the following information:
1. Identification of Copyrighted Work
Identify the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed. If multiple works are involved, provide a representative list.
Example: "The article titled '[Article Name]' published on [Date] at [Original URL]"
2. Identification of Infringing Material
Identify the specific material on our site that you claim is infringing, with enough detail that we can locate it. Include the full URL.
Example: "The infringing content is located at: https://thenumbers.io/companies/example-company"
3. Your Contact Information
Provide information sufficient to permit us to contact you:
- Full legal name
- Mailing address
- Telephone number
- Email address
4. Good Faith Statement
Include the following statement:
"I have a good faith belief that use of the copyrighted material described above is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law."
5. Accuracy Statement
Include the following statement:
"I swear, under penalty of perjury, that the information in this notification is accurate and that I am the copyright owner, or am authorized to act on behalf of the owner, of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed."
6. Physical or Electronic Signature
Sign the notice. An electronic signature (typed name) is acceptable for email submissions.
Example: "Signed electronically by [Your Full Name]"
What Happens After You Submit a Notice
- Acknowledgment: We will confirm receipt within 48 hours
- Investigation: We will review the notice and the allegedly infringing material
- Action: If the notice is valid, we will:
- Remove or disable access to the infringing material
- Notify the party who posted the material (if applicable)
- Take appropriate action against repeat infringers
- Response: We will notify you of the action taken
Counter-Notification
If you believe that material you posted was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may file a DMCA counter-notification. Your counter-notice must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature
- Identification of the material that was removed and its location before removal
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification
- Your name, address, and telephone number
- A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located
- A statement that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the original DMCA notice or their agent
Repeat Infringer Policy
In accordance with the DMCA and other applicable laws, we have adopted a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, users who are deemed to be repeat infringers. We may also, at our sole discretion, limit access to our site and/or terminate accounts of any users who infringe intellectual property rights, whether or not there is any repeat infringement.

Misrepresentation
Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), anyone who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing may be subject to liability for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees.
